BRITNEY SPEARS, one of pop music’s most successful artists, who selling 31 million albums in the US alone, is apologizing for attacking a van with an umbrella earlier this year.

“I apologize to the pap for a stunt that was done four months ago regarding an umbrella,” Britney Spears says in a new post on her Web site.

“I was preparing my character for a role in a movie where the husband never plays his part so they switch places accidentally. I take all my roles very seriously and got a little carried away. Unfortunately I didn’t get the part.”

“You’ll never see it my way, because you’re not me,” Britney Spears then states in bold red letters after the message.

Britney Spears apologized and offered an explanation Wednesday for assaulting a photographer’s car with an umbrella in February.

Spears entered into a Malibu treatment facility in February saying she had hit “rock bottom” after their separation but denied her stay was down to alcohol problems.

The umbrella incident took place during that bizarre period in Brit’s life when she shaved her head, partied with Paris Hilton and forgot to wear underwear with her short skirts.
