Summer is here, time for travel. We give you several maintenance trips before you hit the road, some of the tips can help you increase your gas mileage too!

1. Tires
Any damaged tires should be replaced, check your tire pressure and do this often. By checking your tire pressure, you can avoid blowouts and tread separation. If you still have your winter tires, change it for summer or al-season tires. By changing your winter tires into summer tires, you also improve your car’s handling during summer months.

Don’t forget to also check spare tire, you never know when you’ll get a flat tire. Make sure your spare has air in it and you also have tire changing tools.

2. Oil and Filters
Check your oil and filters; it’s never been a bad idea to check your main fluids in your car before you leave. The most important fluids are the oil, radiator fluid and windshield washer. Your vehicle’s owner’s manual will list the manufacturer’s oil recommendations for different climates. Fresh filters will help better fuel economy, smoother running and optimum power.

3. Emergency Kits
You need to carry emergency kits in your car; here are several tools we recommend:
• First-aid kit
• Flash light
• Paper towels
• Basic tools (screwdriver, wrenches, etc)

4. Air Conditioning System
Its summer, if your air conditioning system is not working, long ride can be unbearable. Have your system checked for refrigerant leaks, hose conditions and efficient operation before you depart.

5. Load Smart
Don’t load too much that the stuff might block your vision. If possible put your load from side to side, make sure you don’t exceed your vehicle payload limit.
